OUR STORY
Green Planet, Thriving People (GPTP) was born from a deeply personal experience. Our founder, having witnessed firsthand the harsh realities of climate change as a rural settler, was inspired to initiate a small backyard farming project in Ekumfi, Ghana. This grassroots effort in 2015 empowered 159 rural women, resulting in a 25% increase in their average incomes. That spark of change became our foundation. At GPTP, we believe in doing good — not just for people, but for the planet that sustains us. We are a youth-led, community-centered nonprofit organization committed to building climate-resilient communities across Africa.
We partner with rural populations to strengthen their ability to adapt to the growing climate crisis. Through education, practical skills training, and access to sustainable resources, we empower youth and women to lead the charge toward a greener, more equitable future.
Whether it’s through regenerative agriculture, circular economy innovations, or targeted upskilling for young climate leaders, we ensure that the communities we work with are not only surviving but thriving — environmentally, economically, and socially.
Our Vision
To become a global organization contributing to at least 2% of Africa’s CO₂ reduction and climate adaptation efforts by 2040, while empowering over 1 million African youth and women to take bold climate action and support governmental efforts through strong public-private partnerships.
